How the new Apple iMac Pro will change productivity for creatives and alike

Apple had two big products slated for launch this month. Now the HomePod smart speaker has been officially moved to an early 2018 launch timeframe. Which means that we will only get to see the new iMac Pro this year and according to the Apple website, it should be available starting 14 December, well at least in the US and some other regions minus India.

Announced at this year’s WWDC conference in June, the new iMac Pro is not just a well-needed upgrade, but also the most expensive Apple product on the market and clearly the most powerful. John Ternus, Apple's Vice President of hardware engineering called it the ‘fastest and most powerful’ Mac ever. It features workstation-class performance crammed into the iMac form factor. Of course, this doesn’t come cheap, with prices starting at $5000 (Rs 3,50,000 approx), the new iMac Pro can be maxed out with an 18-core Xeon processor, a 4TB SSD, 128GB of memory and high-end 16GB Radeon graphics. Now that’s the kind of hardware macOS deserves.
Made for creatives
Targeted at developers, designers, video editors, and other professional creatives, the new iMac Pro comes after a long hiatus of four years when Apple had brought the cylindrical Mac Pro into the market. Even the recent MacBook Pro refresh that arrived last year, was pretty average as it topped at only 16GB of configurable RAM, disappointing Apple’s power-hungry customer base.

"I think the new iMac Pro can finally catch up with designers and developers interested in 3D and VR who have been moving back to Windows/PCs. It seems that Apple is trying to gain the respect back from the power users," said creative developer Silvio Paganini.
We have to agree here as the past few years has seen Apple falling behind in terms of raw performance when compared to Windows PCs. Microsoft stepped up its game with its new Surface lineup by not only offering high-end hardware, but also an elegant design as well as intuitive touch input on its portable Surface Pro 2-in-1 devices as well its Surface Studio desktop, which gauged the attention of designers and developers alike.

There is no doubt that the new iMac Pro will impress consumers who have been used to working on Macs. Not only that, we believe that it can even pull back a few consumers who have moved to Windows.
